Some Of The Changes

The upper red arrow points to a new terminal strip installed to hold the power cord wire. The upper wire goes to the on/off switch and the lower wire connects to the chassis B-. The other wire from the switch, sends AC to pin 2 of the rectifier. The middle red arrow, points to the new terminal strip holding the 60 MFD and two 40 MFD filters that replace the old large cap. The smaller 20 MFD at 25 VDC cap, connects directly to pin 8 of the 50L6 output tube. The bottom red arrow points to the new line cap that replaces the old .02 mfd at 600 VDC, tubular line cap. The new yellow square job is a special .022 mfd Y2 safety cap. This new cap is very important for safe operation of your S-38. The modified radio now has the hot wire from the AC cord, as the switched line, an important safety feature.
