Here are the parts you should have after removal from the old housing. In mine, there is a solder lug at the right that was never soldered on the wire from the factory. It looked like an attempt was made to solder it, but it did not take. The external braided copper shown, was replaced with new wire and new lugs.

The eyebolts were installed in the new 1 1/2 inch end cap and a new larger eyebolt for the hanger was centered in the end. I used lock nuts inside the two opposing eyebolts. These two eyebolts only purpose now, is to hold the two lengths of wire of your dipole. Make them tight. If they do loosen in time, so be it. It won't have any effect on your electrical connections which will now be made through two new bolts.
